Official “BE HEARD” Scholarship Rules
• Only 1 song per person; no multiple entries
• Songs are accepted
between January 10 and February 25 ONLY
• The song must be an original, and include both lyrics and music (not an instrumental song)
• The song must
be an original
• The song can
be co-written, but only the submitting writer is eligible to win;
non-submitting co-writer must sign a release form if the song wins
• Applicant must
have the ability to perform the song live
• Song will be
judged on originality, creativity and performance by a panel of music
industry professionals
• Applicant can’t
have a record deal on a major label group or a cut on a record associated
with a major label group (“associated” is defined by
owned or distributed by a major label as of 1/10/05).
• You must be a
registered member of Songwriter101.com.
• You must be at
least 21 years of age
• Roundtrip travel
to Hawaii must originate within the U.S.
• All entries must
be received at the Performing Songwriter office by February
25, with a $15 check or money order (no cash or credit card) made
payable to Performing Songwriter accompanying it.
• EVERY entrant
receives a 1-year subscription to Performing Songwriter ,
to begin with the May 2005 issue
• Scholarship winners
will be notified on March 18 by phone
• Scholarship winners
will be required to sign an affidavit for travel plans
• No one employed
by Performing Songwriter , BMI, Taxi, Gibson/Baldwin, Hyatt,
Hawaiian Airlines, Cold Stone Creamery, County of Kaua’i or
American Airlines is eligible
